Krappy Kamera

I recently had two of my images selected for the 12th annual Krappy Kamera show at the Soho Photo Gallery in NYC. The images are "Ten Minutes Last Friday and "First Snow", both of which have been
posted to this blog recently so I won't re-post them yet again. ("Ten Minutes Last Friday" was also selected recently by the Rebus Works Gallery for an upcoming show). You can check out an online slideshow
The show runs from March 2 through April 3 with a March 2 opening reception. I plan on being at the opening, so if you're attending, please say hello.

Damn the Torpedoes!

Statue of Admiral David Glasgow Farragut, the
man who said "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!" At least that's the popular shortened version. His statue in South Boston, MA looks
out over Boston Harbor and the Atlantic.

Castle by the Sea

One of my favorite areas to photograph in the Middlesex Fells Reservation, just north of Boston, is the Hemlock Pool area. This one is from last Saturday, an unseasonably warm and sunny winter's day.

My poor Harry Callahan impersonation

I saw the Harry Callahan photo exhibit this past
weekend at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
This image is obviously not a Callahan image but a rather
derivative rip off shot I took in the winter of 2009.
It was nice to see an exhibit of small prints for a
change, a wonderful mix of mostly B&W and color images
that included his images of his wife and daughter, street shots,
multiple exposures and his fabulously understated
landscapes. I have been trying to copy his landscapes for years.
And I learned that Callahan would often revisit places that
he had previously photographed over and over again. I took
great solace learning that, being a perpetual re-visitor of
places that I have already photographed.

More Exhibition News

My image, "Ten Minutes Last Friday", has been
selected for Rebus Works' "Plastic Camera Works 2" show at the Rebus Works gallery in Raleigh, NC. The show runs from February 5 to March 27 with an opening reception on February 5 from 6-10 p.m.

This image is a combination of four Holga photos
taken in my backyard this past fall. Shot the
whole roll in about ten minutes while killing time
on a Friday afternoon. Hence the title.
