Alcohol Gel Transfer

This image was produced using the technique described in Bonny Lhotke's fabulous new "Digital Alchemy" book.
This print was made by transfering an image printed on
Inkaid transfer film to Arches 88 silkscreen paper using Purell hand sanitizer  as the transferring gel.

I posted an image on flickr a few days ago which is this same image only made from a "distressed" piece of transfer film.
I enjoy this process. It's kind of a modern day Polaroid transfer process.
Each print that is produced is unique.
And there are several additional transfer processes in the book that I am chomping at the bit to try.

  1. I love the sense of quiet in this print ... very much unlike your Flickr image, which expresses winter as destructive, this one gives the impression of winter as desolate, the plants dormant but not destroyed.

A wonderful illustration of the uniqueness of each print, too.

  2. I like this technique, indeed it has something of polaroid transfers.
I like the shiny surface here. The leafs, almost gone but holding - waiting on spring to let go.
