Foggy Morning, Dry Reservoir, Middlesex Fells Reservation

I have always been intrigued by Nancy Rexroth's photo titled "White Sky", Chauncey, Ohio, 1976" (I'll let you google it). It's a perfect summation to her wispy, dreamlike images in her seminal book Iowa. It's really nothing more than a a field of white with a black, Diana camera film border. I'm not even convinced that it's actually a photograph, which makes me love it all the more.

This is my image, shot on a recent foggy morning with my Holga 120N. I was thinking about Nancy Rexroth's image when I saw this. I guess I was not quite ready to tilt that camera up another ten degrees or so. :)

  1. I really like the way those subtle trees ground the image! There's more than one right decision :-)

    1. I saw this post on my iPad using the Google Reader part of the Flipbook app and when it displayed this it cropped out the bottom part leaving just white. Mission accomplished. :)
