Luminous Light Show
I'm happy to report that my image "Breakline" is in the online gallery section of the "Luminous Light" show at the Black Box Gallery in Portland, OR. Todd Johnson was the juror for the show which opens today (Nov. 1) and runs through Nov. 20th.
This image was taken with my hybrid Agfa Isoly camera with an inverted Holga lens in Lower Darnley, Prince Edward Island, Canada.

One of the things I love about using extremely expired film is the complete loss of control that I have over the final image.

Black Sun Nebula
Holga 120N
Very old and expired film. And I suspect at one point very damp film given the science experiment going on here. The metal reel was covered with rust like the film had been wet at some point. And, of course, the paper backing was stuck to the film here and there. Lots of post production to salvage this image.

Show News
The annual Photocentric show closes today (Oct. 6) at the Garrison Art Center in Garrison, NY. I was lucky enough to have two images in this show, including "The Snow at Night" which won a first place award.
I am in the "Curiouser and Curiouser" show at the PhotoPlace Gallery in Middlebury, VT, which recently opened and runs through Nov. 1.
And finally, I have an image in the annual Holga Out of the Box show at the TCC Gallery in Longview, TX
which is now on display and runs through Nov. 22. I was fortunate enough to receive a second place award in this show.
Woops. Blog post edit time. My friend Mark from Still River Editions in Danbury, CT just reminded me that I have an image in their Big Little Pin-Up show which runs through Dec. 20. I'm pretty sure that's it for now.

Canadian Mosaic
I met Tim one morning in Summerside, Prince Edward Island while taking a walk around town. It's hard to do justice to his amazing road trip/photo project in a couple of sentences, so please check out his website here.
I was looking at Tim's incredible van and heard a voice from inside. "A Holga, what, are you crazy?"
Yes, Tim, I am crazy. And for a change, someone gets to take your portrait.

Photocentric 2013 Show
I was happy to learn that two of my images, "The Snow at Night" and "Dark Lightning" have been accepted into the annual Photocentic juried show at the Garrison Art Center in Garrison, NY. And I am even happier to report that "The Snow at Night" received a first place award in it's category. (The category was "Other", which I somehow find very appropriate). The jurors for this year's show were Robin Rice and Cig Harvey. The show will run from 9/14 through 10/6 with an opening on 9/15. The gallery is about a three and a half hour drive from the Boston area for me, so I will be making an effort to attend the opening. If you're in the area (near West Point), stop by and say hi.
